THE INSPIRATION

In the heart of our inspiration is the striking Moche Lady of Cao, a testament to the influence of women through history & rich cultural heritage of northern Peru. Today, her legacy transcends time and serves as a profound inspiration for our jewelry brand, where we tribute her regality and translate it into statement pieces.

OF CAO's designs use Pre-Hispanic art in Peru as the main source of inspiration. The brand’s signature geometric shapes, are evocative of the Peruvian culture. 

Through each piece, we want to bring an innovative & modern interpretation on the style of these peruvian cultures while also keeping their history alive. Our jewelry pieces serve not only as a source of fashion and self-expression but also a way to honor the histories of those who have come before. We believe this reinterpretation of ancient mythology and art into modern fashion brings to life the value of identity, pride and culture as part of a self-expression through fashion.

OF CAO designs with the purpose to tell a story and serve as a tool for self-expression. Our unique combination of traditional elements with contemporary styles allows OF CAO’s wearers to expresses themselves through an aesthetic that is both inspired by Peru’s ancient cultures and dependent on modern sensibilities, enabling them to explore their own identities. 

Ultimately, the goal is to empower.

BEHIND OF CAO

OF CAO was created by Valeria, a Peruvian, now living in Berlin. At the start of the pandemic in 2020 her lifelong desire to create a brand that supports her home country's local craftsmanship became a ‘now or never’ project. Having been abroad for over 7 years, she felt the need to creatively reconnect with her birthplace and to rekindle her fascination for Peruvian heritage, and the traditions that make it so unique.

And so, OF CAO was born.
