SUSTAINABILITY & COMMUNITY

SUSTAINABILITY

OF CAO focuses on creating pieces of timeless value, that is respectful to our environment. For that we currently focus on the following actions:

~ SMALL BULK PRODUCTION. We manufacture our Original Designs in limited quantities, resulting in pieces that grants exclusivity to our customers while also minimizing waste.

~ CONTRIBUTION TO CIRCULAR ECONOMY. We are committed to actively contributing to a circular economy through our manufacturing process. By exclusively utilizing precious metals like silver 925, which can be recycled without any loss of quality, we replicate samples multiple times with zero waste of raw materials. Additionally, when a product reaches the end of its lifecycle, it can be recycled or disposed of in an environmentally conscious manner. Prioritizing quality ensures that our jewellery will last a lifetime, minimizing waste. Our objective is to prolong the use of resources by reusing and regenerating timeless pieces for as long as possible.

~ UPCYCLE & RECYCLE. We are committed to reducing waste and our carbon footprint. In pursuit of this goal, we upcycle, recycle and choose sustainable and ethically-sourced materials for our packaging. Each piece of jewellery is delicately packaged in small bags crafted from traditional Andean Peruvian textiles, not only to provide an aesthetically pleasing presentation but also to offer our customers something they will appreciate and can reuse or repurpose. Additionally, our carton boxes are sourced from local stores and repurposed to ship online orders, further minimizing unnecessary waste. We have significantly reduced our reliance on single-use plastics and are actively working towards becoming a fully plastic-free company in the near future.

COMMUNITY

We deeply believe in the power of businesses to create a fairer world, and we are dedicated to using our passion to bring positive change within our sphere of influence.

At OF CAO, we understand that creating fair job opportunities in economically disadvantaged areas of Peru can drive significant and lasting change. That's why we're committed to providing artisans with fair wages, fostering social and financial inclusion in the process.

We also recognize the crucial role of younger generations in sustaining this positive change. That's why 15% of the net proceeds from your purchase will be allocated to support education initiatives in impoverished regions of Peru through local NGOs. We believe that investing in education is essential for creating a brighter future. Our plan is to make our first donation in December 2024 and to keep this a yearly tradition.
